Danish robotics technology conquers global market via Germany

Automation buyers from across Europe can meet the Danish robotics industry in Munich at the continent’s largest robotics trade fair Automatica on June 21 – 24. Here, eight Danish producers are collaborating with Odense Robotics to showcase an array of solutions to the manufacturing industry’s many challenges.

Danish robotic solutions are popular in Germany. At the same time, the country is a launch pad for global exports of Danish robotics technologies, because sales to German customers is regarded as a seal of high quality.

That is why eight Danish robot and automation companies are exhibiting as part of a Danish export promotion at Automatica trade fair in Munich, which expects to attract 45,000 visitors. The export promotion is arranged by Odense Robotics, Denmark’s national robotics cluster, in collaboration with Innovation Centre Denmark in Munich and supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Robotics and automation are among Denmark’s fastest growing export industries with a total exports surpassing EUR 1.5 billion — a figure expected to grow to close to EUR 2 billion by 2025. The reason why Danish robotic companies experience such strong exports is that they develop innovative solutions that customers simply can’t get from local suppliers,” says Mikkel Christoffersen, CEO, Odense Robotics.

Denmark’s robotic companies also collaborate to a high degree — a key contributing factor to the industry’s innovative product development and global competitiveness, adds Christoffersen.

Robots with solutions to challenges

You can meet these Danish robotic companies at Odense Robotics’ stand at Automatica: Cobot Lift ApS, Enabled Robotics ApS, Smooth Robotics, Spin Robotics Aps, STRECON A/S, Technicon, Trendlog.io ApS and Fynbo Technology. They will exhibit many different solutions that tackle key challenges in Germany’s manufacturing industry today:

  • A lack of skilled welders creates delivery problems, as well as increasing demand for a healthy and attractive work environment. Smooth Robotics can alleviate challenges with automation.
  • In a society with both recruitment issues and a growing elderly population, there is the need for new ways to retain employees and prevent injuries related to heavy lifting. Cobot Lift has solutions that can tackle issues.
  • Market demand for varied products and fast delivery creates a need for more flexible, adaptable robotic solutions. Fynbo Technology reduces downtime.
  • Manual and monotonous screw tasks on assembly lines in Germany’s electronic and car industry present challenges for the work environment and are time consuming, which in turn makes scaling production difficult. Spin Robotics automates screw tasks and changes of parts. Many Danish robotic solutions supporting human-robot collaboration involve cobots from the world’s first and largest cobot producer Universal Robots. The global leader has its headquarters in Denmark, where there is a thriving cobot ecosystem facilitated by the country’s national robotics cluster Odense Robotics.

Visitors to Automatica can explore the latest Danish collaborative robotic technologies at the Danish pavillion in hall B4 at stand 308 at Automatica from June 21-24. Visitors can also meet an additional seven Danish robotic exhibitors on their own stands: Audite Robotics, Capra Robotics, FundingBox Research, JVL, Kassow Robots, Meili Robots and Universal Robots. In addition, Odense City is hosting a matchmaking event Odense Investor Summit in Automatica’s Start-Up Arena. Visitors can explore 66,000 square metres of robots at Automatica, where 600-700 exhibitors will present their robotic solutions.

  • With a turnover of EUR 2.8 billion representing a 12% increase on the previous year, Denmark’s robotics industry generated a strong growth in 2021.

  • Danish cobots rank in the top three in Germany. In terms of population size, Germany is 14 times bigger than its small neighbouring country to the north. Nevertheless, Danish produced cobots from Universal Robots rank among the most popular robot manufacturers on the German market, according to the Danish database HowToRobot. 26% of robot and automation suppliers in Germany supply Universal Robots, which ranks third amongst distributors. German KUKA ranks first followed by ABB in the new analysis of the German robot market.
  • The annual global growth rate for sales of collaborative robots is 40%, according to the robot insights database Statzon.com.
